i'm trying to replace my transmission (manual) on my sentra and i'm alittle stumped. i've already reviewed the chiltons manual but it doesn't seem to explain things very well. anyways, i've already got the transmission unbolted and the driverside halfshaft pulled out. does the passenger side halfshaft need to come out as well? if so, how the heck do i get it out? it doesnt want to budge. i go the front of the transmission already seperated from the engine block but i can't seem to get the back (by the firewall) seperated. i'm thinking that the passenger halfshaft is what's holding it on.... any suggestions?

dont know if this will help but... i dont think the passeger shaft should obstruct anything, make sure u take out the starter and diconnect the shifter linkage there is also i think 3 engine to transmission braces, the mounts of course, and i believe just 7 bolts holding it on, if u got all that and have checked and recheck for anything else i cant think of anything

There is a bracket attached to the back side of the motor on the passenger side that the axle goes through before going into the transmission. There should be 3 10 or 12mm bolts holding the ring on the axle into that that bracket. As far as the back side of the transmission, there is a motor mount bolt that needs to be removed and 3-4 other bolts in that area that have to come out. You also need to remove the starter.

ok, i finally got the transmission off now. it was being held on by one bolt that was overlooked, hiding behind the rear trans/motor mount bracket. once i got that unbolted, the transmission slid off with no probs. i've decided to replace the clutch while i had it off so i'll be sure to do a write up for skeluhtor. i've already got a new clutch kit at kragen's for $116.

anyways, i got a small problem.... i'm replacing the transmission in a b13 ga16de. the transmission that i ordered from venus i believe is out of a b14 (it has b14 stamped on the transmission). everything is identical as the b13 except the o/d of the center spline is ever so slightly smaller that the original transmission, thus making the throwout bearings alittle loose. i went to the autoparts store to check if they're different sizes of the b13 & b14, but they said they use the same sizes for both. does anyone know if the throw out bearing will be okay with it being alittle loose?
