A great resource for Nissan Sentra, Infiniti G20, 200sx, Pulsar, NX1600, NX2000, Tsuru, Primera and Sunny owners.

My transmission recently started to grind every dozen shifts or so into 2nd gear. I always depress the clutch the same but when I pull into 2nd it goes about halfway and then grinds before i put it back into neutral and try again. Is this a problem with the synchros or is there just not enough lube in the transmission to make a smooth transition?

I assume on your 06 se-r? I would say a synchro problem. Might want to have the dealer check it out while its still under warranty.

You have an '07, different everything.

To the OP: Is it just when cold? Spec transmissions tend to grind a bit when cold.

It's a 2006 and it grinds both when its cold and when I don't shift quickly. If I shift slowly it gets into the synchros and when I pull back to put it into second gear, it grinds. And of course it happens at random intervals which makes me think its more than just the cold because I am a pretty consistent driver.

Some older Spec transmissions were replaced under warranty for this sort of thing. If it has persisted/does persist, you'll want to have the dealer look at it so that they're aware in case it fails.
