After lending my car to a friend for his prom my 2nd gear has felt different. When its cold its a rough shift into 2nd and sometimes grinds.

Once the car is at operating temp it shifts as smooth as a hot knife through butter.

Also, I am having a slight "ding ding dingaling ding ding" noise that sounds like a bad throwout baring.

Any advice as to what might help. Does anyone know what is wrong?

Thanks for your help

Check the fluid levels and also check the operation of your clutch's hydraulic system.

Your clutch master cylinder or slave cylinder is probably leaking and leaving you with minimal hydraulic pressure in your lines....thus sluggishly engaging/disengaging. If the slave is leaking you can see it if you get down there and have a friend pump the clutch......but the master cylinder is harder to see since it can leak inside the cabin....and leak fluid down into the sound deadening behind your pedals. Your throw out bearing might be making noise because its not fully disengaging.....or because its toast. Good luck....keep us updated.
