So after much contemplation I finally called around and got my transmission flushed. Took it to a local place called RPM. 15 qts was $104, plus $116 for labor plus tax. Did a Syntec 5w30 oil and filter change at the same time for a grand spanking total of $303.16. They use a machine that also gets the fluid in the torque convertor.

I immediately noticed much stronger off-the-line acceleration, and smoother torque overall. Shifts are smooth and responsive (almost imperceptible), and everything feels awesome.

We'll give the Castrol Syntec some time and see how it does. I figured I'd try a 5w30 again in another brand just to satisfy curiosity. But I find its more prone to that weird crackling sound at startup after sitting for a while.

Sounds like you're not selling the Q any more.;) Did you use regular or synthetic ATF?

Mobil 1 Synthetic ATF. The Q is still for sale otherwise. I'll just enjoy it until I get an offer.
