I know this idea has been beaten dead, but.....

My 06 M45 sport has 32K on it and its going to go in for a partial 30K mileage next week. There are some things on that list I just cant possibly see doing at 30K (i.e. spark plugs, replace radiator cap?, ) things of that nature.....

The one that has really put me on the fence is at 30K is it really REALLY necessary to replace/flush the transmission? I've owned GM vehicles most of of my life and they are always saying 60K before you have to replace that fluid.

Would appreciate any/all opinions.!!!

I know my opinion will be contrary to many, but having just traveled this very path as I now have 34K on my 07 M35X I feel qualified.

My dealer pushed hard to have the transmission flush and other maintenance done as under the SEVERE OPERATION service schedule it is required. My car is not operated under that scenario so I told the dealer no.

However, just to have a piece of mind I had my local shop test all of my fluids to see if in fact they warranted replacing. Guess what???? None of my fluids to include transmission, Differential, Brake, Power Steering, or Radiator needed replacing. They weren't even close!!! I'd have wasted my money to the tune of several hundred dollars if I had believed the stealership.

Save your money and wait at least until you hit 60K. If you are nervous, go to a shop you trust and have the tests done and then keep the records of the results to prove your position. Believe me, all shops want to do this work because the profit margin is substantial. If the testing shows you need the work - they will be happy to do it for you.

I just got my annual Consumer Reports Auto issue yesterday. Do you want to guess what they found on this very topic? Well, just re-read my thoughts and you basically have it.

Best to you!

Wow!!! I just noticed you are located in or near Wichita - very close by. Be very careful at our dealer (Steven) and the manager Mike Amos. He will rob you blind if you let him.
