I am going to the shop next week, and I am going to do a few maintenance items, one of which crossed my mind...

http://www.nissaninfiniticlub....flush

The section that DAEDALUS posted about the transmission flush... You could just drain the fluid from the pan, let it sit over night, and then refill...... And the obviously cleaning the pan and replacing the filter?? Does this do a comprable job (obviously it isnt going to be AS good) as doing a machine flush??

Should any chemicals be used in conjunction with doing this??

It doesn't exchange the fluid as completely as a machine flush, but you clean the pan, magnet and filter more thoroughly. So both really are necessary to do it right.

According to the manual, the transmission holds like 9quarts (ill have to look to double check), so if letting it sit overnight would get out 7 quarts (like DAEDALUS said), and you did that twice (or even thrice), it would have to be almost as complete as a machine flush, not to mention a lot cheaper!

Correct.

I have done mine twice that way, and it's a pretty pink color now.

Do you think it is as effective as the machine flush?? Or at least effective enough to offset the cost of a machine flush??

As far as % of fluid replacement, it is a little better. The last time I drained a transmission, I got the 7 qts (measured out in the 1-qt fluid bottles) drained in maybe 2-3 hours.

What about as far as getting all the crud out that block up passages??? Is there any OTC transmission cleaning stuff that I can use prior to this....
