Hey guys ,, Quick question.I plan on replacing the transmission fluid after the overheat and before I start driving it to work ect. Draining, dropping the pan ,replacing filter ect.

I went out last night to check the fluid level/color and noticed after it was warm and in park the fluid was half way up the stick ???

What in the world could cause that ??It was fine a few months back.

A search doesn't turn up much. I did find this though.

New ATF won't attack the varnish, you'll only be exchanging fluids [with pan drop and drain].
I had trouble checking my AT fluid level after pulling/replacing the radiator, starting with locating some level ground to park on close to home. I knew I lost some fluid, and actually had it checked at the dealership, who reported that the level was OK. I hadn't checked it before I pulled the radiator, and still have a new filter and gasket.

A rep at the dealership actually recommended against stirring things up in there by doing another flush now (records indicated that we'd had one done a few years ago), but maybe he's grown tired of seeing old J30s roll in for service and their owners with questions.

A flush, with a coupon, runs about $170, parts included?

Hmm.I was careful when I pulled the radiator to not loose much fluid.Just being paranoid I suppose. I cant afford to loose my transmission right now.Hopefully the pan isn't full of clutch material.Although on the short test drive I took last night the transmission seemed just fine.

Can you feel heat emanating from the transmission tunel when fully warmed? The transmission tunnel sits under the center console. You would feel heat in the interior. If not you're good.
