i was reading somewhere else on here & someone said that synthetic gear lubes are not susposed to be used in the sr transmission because of the brass synchros

the reason i ask is cuz when i did my swap i uses valvoline 80 - 90 full synthetic in my transmission & it grinds the 2nd, 3rd, & 4th gear synchros

anyone else heard of this happening cuz of the synthetic 80 - 90

GL 4 in the transmission, not GL 5. Don't matter if they're synthetic or not as long as you get the GL spec right.

yep, only GL-4 in the transmission, but you can run GL-5 in the stock open differential.

not trying to jack your thread or anything, but Ive been having the same problem except Im running gl4. I just got finished with the swap about 2 weeks ago and for some reason, it grinds 2nd and 5th sometimes. Its rare though. Do you guys think that maybe since our trannys have been dry for awhile that itll clear up or is it serious? BTW I have a b&m short throw....could that have anything to do with it?

short throws MAY over time increase synchro wear if youre a d!ck to your transmission and try to shift super fast. If youre gentle but just enjoy the click into gear feel, the short shifter shouldnt present a problem. Id use Redline MT-90, its the right weight and only GL4. my KA transmission was real notchy and ground 2nd and 3rd religiously, but its smoother now after like 4000 miles. Not saying it FIXED the transmission but, it is what it is
