Post

ok,i had a friend not put the transmission plug back on all the way and fluids leaked out(DUMB!).i thought the problem was something else so i drained all of the transmission fluid put the plug on super tight and filled her back up.The transmission fluid got all over the exaust and now when my exaust heats up smoke comes out from underneath my car.

My freind says it is just old transmission fluid burning off but,how long does it take to burn off???And should i try to clean it? i driven about 75-80 miles trying to get it to stop.today im driving 90 miles roundtrip.

I'm constantly checking the fluid(seems fine). Is there such a thing as a high speed transmission leak?

Thank you!:help

it might take a while if it was a lot. Spray it down with carb cleaner and wash it off with a hose while it is cool. That should speed the process up a bit.

i degreased the under the front part of my car.And ive been ridin' around town and it seems to have stoped, but this morning i drove on the interstate and as soon as i got off the exit the smoke was there again.I might try washing the rest of the underbody.

tell me what you think!

Yes, some things will only leak at high speeds or high rpms. Check for other leaks as well like a valve cover gasket and a rear or front seal on the crank.
