Getting all my stuff in order for spring maintenance and I'm curious about the transmission Filter.Ive heard several peeps say its just a screen and can easily be cleaned and reused.I realize I will need a new O ring but what do you guru's think about cleaning and reusing ??

Its a screen but its somewhat enclosed, so I would imagine it would be hard to get it clean, that and transmission fluid is really sticky, so im not sure what you would clean it with. If you are going to go through the effort to drop the pan, I would just put up a new filter, they are pretty cheap. Those trans cooler lines are also a pain to get out of the way to get to the bolts that hold the pan.

I didn't move the transmission lines to drop the pan. Just worked around them.

I too, put my vote in for just replacing the filter while you have it off. Don't forget to clean off the magnet in the bottom of the pan. Then Mobile 1 fluid and Lucas treatment.

I must have missed the email, but I did get again, hope the plugs worked out. Unfortunatly didnt take out the new trans filter i had put in before it went to the crusher. No matter how you do it, be prepared to get transmission fluid on yourself.

It's not nearly as bad as most domestics. The J30 has a drain plug that allows you to get most of the fluid out before cracking the pan loose.

This has always been my way of thinking. If your going to take the time to do it do it right. Go with NEW, never go used. Your taking out used so why replace it with used or clean it. Ever hear the phase "penny wise dollar foolish." transmission filters are cheap enuff go new.

yoda, it's not worth it, the kit is around 40 bucks if I'm not mistaken. just replace it.
