I recently swapped my sr20det (redtop) with transmission into my '90 240sx. The swap was cake but i found a problem. I attached the transmission to the driveshaft (which took a little elbow grease and few of my friends pushing the motor) I filled the transmission with gear oil and drove the car around for a couple of days. Engine runs fine and idles correctly. I happened to notice that there are tiny pools of oil on my driveway. I jacked the car up and I am almost positive that the gear oil is dripping out from the point where the transmission and the driveshaft meet. It is deffinitely gear oil because its really thick and clean. Can anyone out there help me resolve this issue. I don't want to blow my transmission because of a stupid leak. HELP!!!

it's probably just the rear trans oil seal. Get one for a KA and you'll be fine. All you have to do is pull the driveshaft out (easist done if you disconnect the center U joint right before the carrier bushing and then slide the front half of the driveshaft out of the trans), pull the old seal out, and drive the new one in.

The seal is right there when you pull the shaft out you will see it,Its a black ring,Take the dust cover off,and I used a flat head screw driver, and just pull it out,and put the new one in,Dont forget to put some motor oil on the outside of the new seal. And yes you can get it at nissan.Just order a transmission rear seal for a 92 240sx.-good luck-
