transmission differences?

Hi, my brother just got a manual transmission for his 95 240sx(automatic), he wants to do the manual swap but he's wondering what year the transmission is?, so anyway to see which is which?my brother just got the transmission but he doesn't have any info on it cept that its from a 240sx and its manual.

All KA transmissions are the same, If you are going for manual dont forget all the other parts you need for it to happen. For starters... The other pedal...

If it has a crank position sensor on the top of the bellhousing, it's an S14 transmission...

No sensor or hole, then it's an S13 trans...

Narrows it down a little...

...but, there is usually a VIN tag on the side of the trans...run that through carfax (no account needed, just the main page) and it will say "The CarFax report for this 19XX Nissan returns 14 records"...or something along those lines.

You can pinpoint the year if it has a VIN tag...

k.he found out its a transmission from a 93 240sx, so can he still put it in the S14? what sensors should be changed or so?.(remember this is all for doin a auto>manual swap on a 95 240sx, he'll be reading the guides here in nico)
