I took my car into the garage today and decided to do my transmission and diff oil.... Jesus Christ those plugs hard to turn even a millimetre..they would not budge at ALL!! Me and two guys at the shop tried but still nothing... I got sick and tired and just put the car down and drove home thinking i'd do this another day im kinda pissed haha.. What do you guys reccommend? these things are rusted...

The first time I got those plugs popped, I took it to a shop to have them do it since I couldn't get it to budge. I did have a new drain plug for "just in case" when they did it. Besides, if they mess up, you've got someone to blame.

There is an alternative though.

Yes! Having the right tools is half the battle. Knowing when to stop applying pressure before it strips is another... All I can recommend is either PB or WD sprayed on the threaded base of the plugs. These plugs are stubborn and do require a 1/2" breaker bar & Snap-On tool number PPM516A along with a pipe extension. Just be careful not to strip it....

Is that special tool required? Can't I just use a 1/2" breaker bar, possibly with a short extension?

The Snap-On tool has the appropriate end which is tapered to fit the plug hole much better... you can use the 1/2" breaker bar but be careful!

Yep, if in doubt, you can always take that drain plug and an impact wrench and pop it loose just enough then go at it by hand.

or you can take it to some oil change shop and let them deal with crapping bricks when it strips lol. I did that with my diff at the first change man. Tried it, couldn't get it off and nearly stripped it. So took it to a pennzoil oil change place, brought my own oil coughed up 20 bucks and let the guy in the pit crap a brick as the first tool he tried couldn't get it off. Best 20 I ever spent. Seriously.
