Is there any recommended external transmission cooler for a 1991 240SX? Well first of all, it is a worthwhile installation and is it easy to do?

R U talking about automatic transmission cooler?

any aftermarket mini-radiator/transmission cooler would be beneficial than sharing a portion of the radiator to cool the transmission. Just because heat kills/shortens auto transmissions.

I've seen trucks/SUVs that have a towing package w/ an auto trans external cooler in front of the radiator from the factory.

I'd rate install of an aftermarket trans cooler to be 2 outta 5. (1 is changing an oil/filter)

no prob... it was a general ? & i'm for it when I know that the auto trans of my family's cars might be abused.

it's an extreme, but i also change their fluid annually or bi-annually.

Ricebike...What aftermarket external transmission cooler did you use? Could I simply install the cooler and hook it up to any factory hoses that does the cooling for the transmission? Any recommendation?

I use one off a mid-90's Ford Explorer. They are a perfect size and do a great job. Got it out of a junkyard for $10. Make sure you splice into the return oil line coming out of the radiator.

I fabbed the bottom bracket from some aluminum angle from Home Depot. The top of the cooler has a flange on it from the factory, if you bend it 90 degrees it will bolt right to the bottom of the radiator support cross-member. Since I tool this picture I re-routed the lines from up and over the radiator to around the side through the gap on the left of the picture, about half way down (just under the headlight motor).
