I replaced the(automatic) transmission in my 89 240 with a rebuilt unit along with a rebuilt torque converter and it is acting EXACTLY like the original one was acting. It wont shift from 1st gear on unless I take the rpms up to about 3 g's and ease off of the gas and it sloooooowly shifts to 2nd. Is the transmission computer controlled and is keeping memory from the original unit? If so, how do I go about resetting the memory?

I replaced the TPS and still had problems so I took it to a local shop and the mechanic called me back and said the transmission is fine, the TPS is good but cant find the source of the problem. He mentioned either the speed sensor or inhibitor(?). Any other suggestions? All gears are there, it just has an extended shift prob.

its not the inhibitor but there is a slight possiblitly its the speed sensor but not that common at all. this sounds more like the tcm is controlling the trans to do it do to a input its getting.

I flused the cooler, the lines and everything. I picked up another transmission today pretty cheap so Im gonna give it another shot. The last transmission I put in had a hack job on the wiring harnesses and there were some stripped bolts on the internal parts I noticed when replacing the filter.
