Ok guys heres a good question. First of all I did all I could to prevent from posting another transmission topic. But I couldnt find anyone in my shoes in this forum. Heres the situation. I still havent fixed my automatic trasmission on my 89 240 yet. I plan to swap it out for a manual. No big deal right? Heres the thing. I also plan, later on down the road, to swap out for the KA24DE. My question is. When I get engine and begin the swap. Will the transmission I eventually get bolt up or will I have to get another one. Hope it makes sense and I hope nobody is as stuck as I am when it comes to this question

Honestly for all the hassle of doing a 5spd swap why not pay another few hundred dollars and do the de swap. Get it over with. iirc the bellhousings are different. Why do the same work twice and risk having a bunch of parts that aren't going to work.

He has an 89 with a sohc and wants to swap to a dohc. He wants to know that if he does the auto to manual swap on the sohc will the same transmission work for the dohc.

I would say no.

every trans bolts up to every year, some sensors may or may not be used. i have a 95 trans on my 89 and my friend has a 98 trans on a 95, they all fit.
