I'm trying to find the source of my nasty transmission oil leak. The car is an old 89 240SX. Before I go change my reverse lamp switch, and speed sensor, I would like to ask what are some of the possible leak spots on a transmission. Also what kind of selant should one use after draining the oil out. I'm planning on filling it back up by taking the shifter out.

Thank you

I found my transmission leak. I looks to be leaking from one of the switches but can't figure out exactly which one. The manuals I looked at indicate there is a reverse (back-up) switch, top gear switch, O.D. switch, and neutral switch. They all look the same and have the same connector. The one leaking on my transmission is the one right next to the reverse (back-up) switch.

Are all the 89 240SXs have 4 switches on the transmission or some have only three? Are these switches all the same can I order a neutral/back-up switch and use it as the top gear switch?

Hope someone knows what all these switches are.
