Need to change the transmission fluid, never done it on this truck. Any links, or step by step, can't find my Haynes!

manual?

its easy... get a breaker bar... go to town on the bolt on the bottom of the transmission

BE READY! that s*** comes out fast!

put plug back in

unloosen the filling bolt (driver's side of the transmission)

fill... most likely you'll need a hand pump to get it in

Anyone ever do a photo thread on this subject? I will shoot a few pics and post them since I'm gonna change my transmission fluid soon anyway.

I read a good tip somewhere "Before draining the transmission fluid, loosen the filler bolt first! That way you know that it's not frozen and that you will be able to refill it once you drain the fluid."

that's probably good advice.... don't wanna get stuck not being able to move the truck because you can't add any new fluid in afterwards

I know on some other rigs you can put oil in if you remove the shifter, not sure if it's the case here as the shifters in the far back of the tailhousing. I've already lost most/all the oil out of my trannies out the tailshaft while/after pulling them (good idea to drain fluid before pulling trans =P) I'll try it out on my spare and see if it puddles up or actually fills it, can't really hurt it at this point and is nice to know in a sticky situation.
