Don't fret, it's a pretty easy job. I'm just confused as to why your trailer guys left the light harness inside your truck.

Just remove the interior cargo area side paneling. This will give you access to the underbody of the truck and you should have no problems weaving the trailer light wiring through this crevasse.

You know what I was thinking.

They probably did that so all you have to do is pull it out, hook it up, and close the rear hatch on it. It's a rubber seal around the door so it won't hurt the harness and when you're done you just roll it back up into the trunk area and hide it inside.

I was thinking the same thing. Mostly because that's what the instructions for my aftermarket harness say to do...

very doableBUTthe reason i want to run it underneath is that I worry about that cord rubbing against my bumper for 4 hours straight, dont want to jack my paint up, its in quite nice condition currently.

I found a hose-dont know what its for, some sort of dump- that can easily be pulled out.so what I am thinking is cutting my harness, running in through that hole, put the hose back in place, and then redo all of the connections.

I dont know, I will talk to my father about it, he was an electrician for a while, get his opinion on it, want to make sure its sealed really well.

ORmaybe do the same thing, but have the reconnected area inside of the car, not down below it.

I dont know

I do know that i cracked the side piece when getting it out. sucks.not too noticeable, not too big of a crack, but i do want to replace it soon.so that was a bummer.

If the connections are outside, do them right. Solder, and then Ancor hot meltglue lined heat shrink from the local ship's chandlery. Me, I'd put them inside,to keep them out of the weather and so I don't have to solder on my back underthe truck.

I run mine out the back hatch, and shut the trunk on it. When not in use i stow the wiring under the carpet, and you don't know it's there. It's also completely protected from the elements 95% of the time that way. I wouldn't be worried about the wire messing up your paint... there's no way it's going to do any damage back there. If there ends up being a mark of any kind it would compound out in less than a minute

One more thing: How often do you trailer? If it's only occasionally, you are fne.If it's EVERY weekend (my boat goest to the ocean 70 days a year), tuck theconnector up high and out of the way, and then plug another cable in togo to the trailer. You can get a flat four cable with male on one end and femaleon the other end. Or checkout http://www.jetconnex.com/
