Has anyone here installed a trailer hitch on their sport package equipped V? Was any cutting of the rear valance required?

UMMM in the owners manual under towing it says Do Not use this vehicle for towing. I assume you are putting on a bike rack.....Just pointing this fact out.

manuals also tell you not to drink and drive but we do. trailer hitches void warranties sometimes. but i am towing an aluminum boat and 10 hp motor. not much weight. versa allows a 200 lb. tongue weight. towing to close proximity of domicile is ok. don't tow a popup or uhaul trailer. and you can't have a back rack. specifically states no backracks.

I'll be towing a small utlity trailer occasionally for those few times when I need to haul something that I can't get into the car itself.

The trailer weighs 370lbs with a max payload of 1000lbs.

I work for a Nissan dealer and our techs seem to think that this is no problem for the car. And if I hurt something on the car, it's under warranty!

The hitch was installed yesterday. Nice fit and very unobtrusive.

It's under warranty as long as they don't relate the towing to whatever broke.

Ok.....this is just about the stupidest argument to support a point I've heard. Sorry but I couldn't NOT pass comment on this one.

I picked up my trailer yesterday and the car towed it with absolutely no effort. It's a real neat item from a company called Lifetime Trailers. It's 4 ft x 6 ft but folds up to 29 inches wide. When it's folded the tongue retracts as well making storage in my 8x10 garden shed possible. The front and rear gates of the trailer remove when the trailer is being folded but they can also be used as ramps for loading atv's, motorcycles, etc. Weight is 370 lbs with a max payload of 1000 lbs. I'll report on the V's towing ability when I actually use it.

As an aside. When I was hooking up the trailer for the ride home, I threw out my back and have been off work for the last 2 days.

in the versa manual it specifically states not to drink and drive. look for yourself. i read the manual 5 minutes every morning waiting for the cold engine light to go off.

I have one installed on my SL. Cost was about $130 plus $130 installation. I only use it for a bike carrier.

It's inconspicous - in any case, I can't see it when I'm in the car.

The model I have uses a U shaped piece of steel to navigate around the exhaust. I don't know what happens if I need a new exhaust.

It is held on with 2 bolts, so it could be removed without much fuss.

I feel for u dude. Last year I was off work for 3 months with severe back problems. It was the worst and most prolonged pain I've ever been in. Ended up having surgery and it's all better now.

Good luck with the towing. Wouldn't do it personally but we need people like you to test it out.
