Don't kill me, but I need a trailer hitch for my Q45. I don't want to haul a trailer, but I do want to hook up one of those cargo carriers, that connect to a 2" receiver hitch. Harbor Freight has one for $40.00

Any Ideas?

Do a search on rear subframes and you may change your mind. The Q doesn't need any more weight, especially hanging off the subframe. Especially when you are not carrying cargo.

You cant tow a boat, but even front-drive cars like the Chrysler Sebring can tow a pair of motorcycles across the state with no trouble.

Towing, as the manual says, shouldn't be done on the Q. Doesn't mean it wont work just fine.

I'm with Brian... Stressing a 10 year old subframe with 154K is a bad idea...

U-Haul is the only place I have found that has one. It's 365.00, and bolts to the subframe. I agree. Bad idea. Now the wife's I30 hitch is only $80.00....

She shot me down on that one, before I finished the question.

I guess I'll be renting something, or loading up the back seat. At least the I30 has a 60/40 flod-down rear seat.

I have to carry a tailgate and rear bumper for my 1962 GMC pickup from my dad's house in Kansas City to the house. I may just ship the bumper via Fed Ex.

Thanks for the info. It didn't take much to discourage me.

Buy a $500 junker truck..... If it breaks, its still cheaper than a rear subframe!!!!!!

Jeff - Check with forwardair.com... If the parts are less than 80 pounds, they will ship for a flat rate of $40. A bumper and a tailgate packaged seperately would run you $80.

Hope it works out for you, forwardair is the best-kept secret in shipping IMO.

We are going to take the 2000 I30t. I will fit what I can in the car, wit hthe back seat folded down, and ship the rest. I could rent an F150 for what a trailer hitch cost for the Q.

The main reason I'm not driving my 1962 GMC, is because there is no A/C in it. It has the tunes, and cruises fine at 65 to 70. The trip is 1500 miles, round trip, and with it being the end of June, I need the A/C. I think I can ship the bumper for about $25, through FedEx 3-day ground.

If you can pull that one off, let us all know how you did it! :D

I did a rate check, on FedEx.com, and it says $10.89 to ship a 28# bumper, 60" x 12" x 8". I guessed on the weight, but I am close.

Fed Ex is the best-kept secret, in my book for shipping.

Ah - The weight was where I was off.

I'm thinking of the bumpers on my Suburban, which are about 60#.

FedEx can't ship 4 rims from Phx to Connecticut for $40 - That's where forward air comes in handy.

I shipped 4 Suburban Z71 wheels, with tires, from Alabama to Florida for $62.00 total for all 4. The wheels and tires weighed 53# each. I used stretch wrap and cardboard to cover the polished aluminum, and carried them to the FedEx dock. UPS wanted close to $200.00 for the same thing!

I shipped 4 17" Infiniti wheels to Chicago, in 2 separate boxes, via UPS, for $115.00 last year (I wish I had thought about FedEx on this one).
