Hey... So I am considering trading in my 05 mini cooper S that is modified some for an 04 G35 with about 95k miles. They are asking 9,990. I am probably going to go test drive it sunday. Anything i should look for specifically other than the norm? It's a manual and I don't know much more other than it's had 3 owners. Any advice is welcome. Husband (krazy skwerel) is currently deployed so I don't want to get raped by a dealer because i'm a girl. so any knowledge would be helpful.

Holy Balls!!!! Either G35s hold their value like spanish gold or somebody's asking about $4k too much for what was at best a $30k car TEN YEARS ago.

EDIT:
That's farking nuts. KBB confirms $10k is on the low end of private party value for that car. Asinine.

That sounds like an excellent upgrade.

G35s tend to eat through pads and rotors. Find out when they were last replaced and negotiate accordingly.

Almost all banks use NADA so I don't really deal with checking KBB thanks though. The high NADA for it is 9200ish which I was going to try to talk them down to depending on what they offer me for my car. If I can get my pay off amount, which is about what the car is worth I don't mind spending a couple hundred extra.

Yeah G35's with that low of mileage go for a premium around here. That actually is a fair price considering what i've seen lately, because i've been looking at them too.

My sister in law just got an awesome deal on an '04 a couple of months ago, but it has 120k miles on it. She walked away with it for $7,000 though and it was a very well cared for car.

I'd post up in the G forums to get some better information from the actual owners, but the most common issue is them using oil. Basically some of them had an issue in the engine that caused them to use oil and it isn't a major deal if you keep a check on the oil, but it's something you need to check regularly if it's present because it can obviously cause an engine failure. It would be hard to tell at the time of purchase other than checking the oil to see if it's low, which it likely will not be. So if you buy it, basically just keep a check on the oil regularly.

^Thanks for the good info. I'm going on Saturday to test drive it. Hopefully I will be out of the Euro scene soon. I need me some RWD.

Brake pads and the oil consumption are the only G35 issues that I'm aware of.

Well I ended up finding another manual that was only an hour away instead of 2. It is a year older so an 03 but has 10,000 less miles... I love it! glad to be back to RWD and just out of the mini scene.. too many people asking what the check engine light means on forums for me. Can't wait to start modifying it!
