Traded In the EX for 2009 FX35

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

I have be meaning to make this post for some time now. We traded in the EX about a month ago because the back seats were way too small.

I loved how the EX handled and looked. The FX interior is just as nice as the EX. I like the seats better in the FX.

I already mentioned in another thread my dislike of the 7spd transmission on the FX but when it's in DS mode and I'm using the padel shifter, it's a lot of fun to drive.

Here is the EX:

Here are some pics of the FX and G:

The first part of your post sounded like mine a month ago. We got the same color FX, is yours AWD and what options did you get?

Haha, I remember reading your post also!

I got RWD since we don't get any snow or really bad weather here in Atlanta. I have Premium and Nav packages. I really wanted the Deluxe Touring but couldn't it in Blk/Blk.

We got the same car except mine is AWD and has the Tech package. I could have done without the Tech, but like you couldn't find the color combo with all the options that I wanted.

Love the FX but hate the tires and rims! Its a bigger SUV needs bigger and wider profile tires. I like the rims on the EX better as well. Or the rims on the G37 even more.

Yeah tell me about it! They look odd on such a big car. I wanted to get the Deluxe Touring package which comes with the 20s but couldn't get it in the color combo I wanted.

I can always get the FX50 rims down the line.

I was moments away from purchasing an EX but started having some reservations- you seem to be the only one I can find that had an EX briefly and then traded for a FX- my reservations with the EX is quite simply the size- I need to go up in size not down from my '07 TL. I am interested in the FX as the next best thing to the EX. I assume you are happy with your trade- I don't want anythign huge and I still want something that feels like a car on big wheels. I realize the FX is not huge or even meant to be a true SUV, but alittle bit more room is all I need- I can't purchase newe- unless I wait and the 09 come down- although I did see an 08 with low miles for a fair price. Just wanted to get your input since you have been there done that.

I saw your previous post. I would definitely go for a used FX35 or FX45.

The EX was replacing my 2003 CL S 6spd. We were looking for something that would work well for us as life progressed. We wanted a car that could hold a baby seat comfortably as well additional passengers. I had a chance to load the EX up with three in the back seat and it was a tight fit.

We've taken a road trip with the FX and it's a lot more comfortable with a packed car. Don't get me wrong the EX was a great car, just didn't fit our needs.

There are ton of used FXs at the dealer we got our car from. Come down to GA if you have trouble finding one in VA

Funny I'll be in Woodbridge, VA for thanksgiving.

Which dealer? I have been looking for a used 2009 and there seem to be none around.

hey, if you needed the rear seats, the FX is definitely a good buy;

nice pictures; i dunno why, but the front grill of the FX drives me crazy. Far away it looks so SLICK...then up close you go

is the heaviness of the car affecting any of your driving habits thus far?

Congrats on the new FX! I too went to the FX after a year in my EX. My decision was not about space, but after seeing an FX50S on my dealers lot in the same color combo as my EX, and having what I thought was a ridicoulous offer accepted, I just went for it. I am curious about your comments regarding the 7 speed. I too was a little dissapointed in some aspects of the shift timing. About a month or so ago, a TSB was issued for a reprogram of certain versions of the 7 speed in both the FX and G37. I took my FX in and it was re-flashed with the new TCU software. Since then it was a TOTALLY different experience. Sharper shift points, no "hunting" or hanging between lower gear shifts, MUCH smoother downshifts. I was actually amazed it made so much of a difference. Some owners that have had it done also notice a significant improvement, while a few not so much. I think it depends on your driving style. Regardless, it may be worth taking your FX in for them to check to see if it applies to your vehicle. The only caveat is that once it is done, it can not be "undone" so I guess you have to decide if it really bothers you or not. In my case I was glad I went for it because it would have continued to bug me if I had not given it a shot. I can dig up the TSB number if you like.
