I am really enjoying my Q45T. I keep her really clean and as ya'll know performed a swell of repairs making her run smooth so far. For some reason I have been craving a 1997-2000 Q45T. Specifically in all Black or Pearl. I was wondering a couple of things.

If I did get a 97-00 Q45 whether T or not, what would I be loosing by doing this. Meaning I'd be going from a 1994 Q45T to a 97-00. Whats the ups and downs of going through this. I know no matter what I dump into my Q I would be lucky to see $1500 out the door, so taking a loss is known already. No I am not selling my car. I was just thinking. What do you guys think?

I would limit your search to the 99-01, much better crash test results due to strengthened chasis, and updated cosmetics and headlamps. I would be concerned purchasing a black/black car in a warm climate state-a/c has to work overtime to cool the interior.

While I like the G50 much, much better than the car you are considering, there IS something to gain by having a much newer, hopefully low mile car.

Maybe you could buy the newer one, and keep the g50?

Thanks for the reply. I could never afford to own to cars at the moment. It wouldn't be logical. I like your frame of thought. The 1999-2000 are pretty nice. I am 100% sure this is a passing faze.

For a commuter, the FGY33 is a little better and cheaper.

But it is not a G50.

The G50 was the basis for the President.

The FGY33 was always a Cima, the second line chassis.

He means the over engineered, great power output, and just what a Q45 was meant to be, A car with a true 4.5 V8 with more sport than comfort. The early G50 is what the Japanese thought to be a true Q45 with a ton of power and simple luxury.

In my opinion I would like to have what Goody94Q45 has a 1990 Q45 and a 1994 Q45, the best of both worlds Power and Luxury.

Some day.

No offense to the FGY33 owners.

In many ways the 99-00 is a more "updated" looking car, and by all means it's a nice car. Maybe even a little more "dependable" but no so much you couldn't debate either as being equal/better.

The 97-01 was a lesser car (based on Nissan's chassis line up) that was brought over as a price point competitor. For reference, the MSRP on the 1996 was ~$56k, the 1997 was ~$49k. It's not very often the newer model has an MSRP 10% less.

Keep in mind, it's not a good market to sell, and you'll be tossing away any money spent on repairs/maintenance.

I say, dream of "what might be", but stay grounded in your solid ride.

Words of poetry Rex. In two weeks GOD willing I will be doing my FP and FF. I really do like my car a lot. I couldn't afford to drop another 6 to 9k for a 99-00 Q. I spent some time poking around and found the 01-03 going any where from $9K to $14K in that region. I also found 97's going for as low as $3,500. The 2000 Special Editions are still being priced around $10K.

A 2001 Q45t is the same car as a 2000 ae.

All 2001 have the ae interior maple trim.

More dependable? I'm not sure.My 90 Q has only been jumped twice [bad battery both times] and flatbedded once due to a leaky brake hose in 18 years and 10 months and 320,000 miles.Never had the spare on the ground.

How much more dependable can you get.

But the 5% better highway MPG [1 MPG >] under equal conditions can save you $100>$200 per year.

Sorry to hear about that. At the moment I am keeping her. I've put a pretty penny into her thus far and will be doing the FP soon. If I had to take a guess on what she would be worth, I'd say do to market conditions she wouldn't exceed the 2 to 3k range which is sad in comparison to what you get for that much car. On another note, it was that price range which allowed be the car in the first place so I can't complain to much.

I know, in all honesty it seems these cars are worth more on a personal effect value then say profit or retail. I see it this way, drive and enjoy the ride. Since we all have put money into our Q's we can all almost agree on one main thing. When they are running right it feels like a million bucks. There is no question to the smooth classy ride, ample power and when cleaned good looks. Its just sad to see even one with all the proper items fixed or replace sell for less then the cost of doing all the injectors.

But even then it is still a lot less than the lesser alternatives.

320K miles is pretty amazing. I'm assuming that you replaced the plastic timing chain guides, but at what mileage? What other major components have been replaced?
