Hi, I got my Versa S less than a month ago, it only has 700 miles on it, my question is, is it possible to give this Versa t my dealer and get a Versa SL and pay off the extra features that come with it and for the 700 miles? do they do such things?

The deal you get depends on how badly the dealer wants to sell you SL and how easily he can get a decent price on a used S.

Ask. The worst that can happen is that the dealer says no. If he does say no, make it clear you're going to check other dealers locally and you'll be sure to recommend the other dealer instead of his place if one of them does give you a decent deal.

If you do this, you will lose a TON of money. Kimber traded in her SL for another SL (hers had some problems) she lost over $6,000 (if I remember correctly).

You mean replace your "S" seat with an "SL" seat?

yup... I traded my SL (with 7600 miles and aftermarket sunroof) for an SL (with 5 miles and more packages) and the 'new' V was cheaper, and it still cost me $5600 out of pocket (just refinancing what I owed on the old V with the new V as collateral...) clear as mud?

Probably not quite the same amount, but you'd pay quite a bit. Literally, the second you drive the car off the lot, it's worth about 3500 or 4000 less dollars to the dealership. You could sell it off for closer to what you owe (probably about 2000 less than you paid) but remember that will be harder now with the 08's. Just ask yourself this: whatever it is that you want that an SL has, is it going to cost you less than 3500 to install?

Vahagn,

No, they do not do it this way.

It doesn't work the way you're describing. They will not just add the difference between packages and sell you the SL. Your S is a used car now. It is worth as stated above, 3-5K less than what you just paid for it.

New cars are neat to have, everything shiny new but they lose 20-30% of their value the first year.

Try it at a few dealers and see what happens, once a new vehicle has been titled even with very low mileage there will be a loss or depreciation of 20% to 30% depending on the make and model no matter what the mileage. If you paid $14,000.00 for your car than expect to dish out a minimum of $2,800.00 to $4200.00 additional out of your own pocket excluding all other costs that can be incurred.

For the little difference in price initially required why did you just not purchase the SL to start with ?

Another thing to keep in mind, any modifications (or customizations) to ANY vehicle, including wheels, paint, trim, body kits, exhaust, spoilers, etc. will REDUCE the resale value (unless the buyer is 16 years old, or happens to love what you've done to the car).

1- The SL model material wil not match the rest of your S model car.

2- Have you inquired from the parts dept what such a rear seat will cost to purchase then install.

3- Are all anchor points, seat belts, tie downs etc. exactly the same from one to the other.

4- What would such a seat cost from a wrecking yard.

lol if it costs under a 1k, it would be great, lol and if they would change the front seats to leather too lol that would be even better.

Well, the SL doesn't have leather so you'd have to have the front and rear seats done...

I'd contact an upholstery shop and see what they'd charge to have the rear and front seats covered or reupholstered. Leather is going to cost you some bucks. How about naugahyde? LOL.

One of the main reasons that sold me on the SL was the significant upgrade in quality of the interior materials.

Do a junk yard search for the seat you want. Then order Katzkin leather interior. You can get the front kit for your seats and an sl rear kit , and they'll match.

Don't waste your money on having the dealership install your seats its just a simple bolt-nut app. most likly. They will probably take an hour to do it when it only takes 5-10 mins.
