Hi,I was thinking of going from 2.5s premium to 3.5SE but is it a wise move?I still owe like $22k on the loan for 2.5s.

What do you guys think?

I thought about it myself but decided against it. I love the 4 cylinder and it's got descent horsepower for mods but I owe about the same on my loan and to me it's like just digging a bigger hole! BUT, if they come at you with a descent monthly payment I would certainly consider it. I haven't asked my dealer because if he comes back at me with a descent price I would probably bite! (although that's highly unlikely!) Good luck!

Expect to pony up the difference... plus around $5k for driving your car off the lot

Actually, I just called my dealer and he is checking on it now and if he comes back with a good price I might consider it myself.. I really do like the four but if I'm going to start adding mods I want to at least see if I can grab the four because she's a BEAST!

Yeah, I seriously doubt it will go anywhere but I thought I'd check. At first he told me my payment would be like $50 more a month and I was like yeah right man, crunch the numbers and call me. I just had to check and get it out of my system.

please correct me if i'm wrong, but isn't the 2.5S w/ prem package MORE EXPENSIVE than the 3.5ESE w/out premium ? ...

Just checked, and yes, the 4 banger w/ prem pack is more expensive than the 6 banger without... strange!

in any case, owning a 2.5S sedan and a 3.5SE w/ prem pack., i'll say that I can appreciate the difference in power between the two. I love the sedan and the way it drives, and for a family car, it has all the get up and go I really need (i won't be racing anyone with my daughter in the car)

but if you're a power junkie like mcheddadi (no offense man, i just know you like power) then the step up is worth the trade in.

Curious, are you gonna get prem. package on the 3.5 SE also?

this altima has to be the most powerfull and fastest car I have ever owned. my dad tried to one up me with his new 2004 bmw 745i with a v8 and 325hp, but it's soo heavy that it does 0-60 in 5.9 sec. mouhahaha!

can't wait for my turbo, can't wait for my turbo, can't wait for my turbo ...*rambles away*

0-60 in 5.9 on paper. Have you actually raced the 745i?

How does the 3.5 hold up against the Mazdaspeed 3??......I was thinking one day, that for the price that I picked up my 2.5 w/premium I could have bought a Mazdaspeed 3 and it would still be a little cheaper AND the finance rate would've been awesome at 1.9% rather than the 6% I bought the A/C at......

Don't get me wrong....I LOVE my Coupe..shes a sexy beast....but in terms for the most powerful NEW car I could've bought in the same price range..? In addition to the headaches I wouldn't have had to deal with in terms of fit and finish.

I hear ya dood, I miss the A) turbo w/ updated CPU software from my GTI, B) the semi upscale interior of my `07 camry. I was thinking today if I should have 2 cars,,, similar to one of the previous guys who posted on here that he has a family car and the sporty a/c.

What would y`all do if you could dig up the $$.... 1) Have a 'mod' car to have loads of fun with such as the a/c, while having a 2nd car for family driving and when you just want to relax. 2) enjoy the a/c for a couple years and then trade it in towards a car with both power and luxury, such as the bmw 3 series which will release soon.

ttyL!

I was negotiating with the dealership today and at the last minute I backed out. I could have traded my 2.5 s in for the 3.5 se with nothing down but my payment would have went up 100 bucks and I decided it wasn't worth. I love my car and I want the power of the v6 but in the end I'll stick with my 2.5!!

Here's my opinion on your situation. You have a great car that may not be the fastest but you can clean it up even more with some good mods to make it turn a few more heads. I have a 3.5SE coupe with everything you can get (excluding the sun roof deflector), I would order it again and do it all the same. Having said that, it's such a big hit going with depreciation and insurance, I wouldn't consider it just for the added hp. Especially if you're giving up the premium package for a base 3.5… I though away money like that with all the mods I put into my tC and traded it away (after stripping it of course).

My friend had to talk some sanity back into me and I really do love my car. I'm going to stick with what I got and go from there... I just had to ask the dealership to get it out of my system!!! thanks for the advice though..

I have a 3.5..............And how often do you get the chance to use Or hell..How often do you need that much power.........

For me..It is pretty much never.......It's just nice to know you have it....It's kinda like having a couple thousand dollars in you wallet.....but never spending it..........It feels good to know its there.....

0-60 doesn't mean much especially with different drivetrains. If you can't beat a car that's only got 55 more hp but with over 1000 more lbs then you suck!

Yep pretty much, personally I like how if I want to I can have great gas mileage and have my tank last almost 2 weeks, or I can open it up and put a nice grin on my face.

I honestly hear what you're saying and I don't want anyone to trade in a car simply for performance, but then why does anyone buy a fast car? The Altima coupe 3.5SE with a 6 speed is not fast on a performance stand point but for me it satisfies style, performance, luxury, and economy. I don't beat my car but I can't imagine going down 95hp as much as I get on it…. If you're an enthusiast, the VQ is great and you probably will open it up often. Besides, it's not like we're all street racers here. Why get the 3.5, it's definitely a "it's nice to know I have it" feeling more than anything.

That may be true, but if I wanted to buy a boat I'd sure take a M45 over a 745li. Shave 300lbs and a hell of a lot more balls

Back in late 01, I went for fun while out of town visiting my sister test drive the "New" Altima. I drove the 4 banger and thought it was a nice car. I then was talked into driving the 6 by the salesman.........

Well to make a long story short...I drove it back to PA that weekend.

It's a man thing....we want the biggest pecker, biggest house, best lookin lady, most moneyand fastest car..We can't help it

Hmm, arnt test drives for finding out which car you want? My opinion is there will always be a 'better option' no matter which car you end up with. There are plenty of things you can do to an engine to get more power and not having to get an entire new car altogether.

duh! I have one in my driveway... since it's an automatic, it's not the drivers fault if it's slower than my coupe. 5.9sec for an automatic is always 5.9sec no matter how you push the pedal.

not fast on a performance stand point? you must not be driving the same car as I? "MY CAR" will run past 07 mustang gt's, stock g35 coupes, rx8's, audi 2t's... these are just a few that i've raced and won so if the a/c 3.5 vq se is not fast on a performance stand point, i'm not sure where you points begin and end. sure it's no 150k exotic sports car, but it's pretty damn quick.

and to the fella wanting to go to from a 2.5 to a 3.5 just go to the dealership and see if it's something you can't live without after taking a test drive. my test drive sold me instantly and i use the extra power the 3.5 offers everyday and i only live about 4 miles from my work.
