I purchased my Altima Coupe back in june when it first came out. I was getting the car for my 17th birthday, and at the time it was hard to find a 3.5 SE manual. So I purchased the CVT 3.5 SE, and although I love it I wish I had the 6 speed manual transmission. So today I went searching for a manual and eventually found one. I test drove it, and its definately a lot faster than the CVT (I think) so im contemplating trading my CVT for the manual. It is the same exact car as mine, just a manual, and my only doubts about getting the manual is that I will be keeping the car until im atleast done with college. Thats another four years, so I dont know if I will one day regret switching from automatic. What does everyone think?

Manual FTW. I MADE my dealer find me a 6 speed if they wanted me to buy the car. After my Spec-V having the 6 speed, i just couldn't see getting anything else. It would almost be like taking a step down. Besides, nothing beats the feeling of slamming through the gears on the strip.

if YOU REALLY DESIRE A MANUAL, and its a MUST, and you can't go on with your automatic by all means satisfy your desire, but do also take into consideration the loss of money through the trade. I'm sure with whatever decision you make you'll be happy with it, just take into consideration the depreciation of the vehicle and how much more money you'll need to put in. If you dont see a big difference or its minimal by all means go for it.

i think i repeated myself quite a bit...i'm sleepy please forgive me lol

What do I think? Your going to take a huge hit to swap such a new car.

Unfortunately we want what we want when it come s to cars, so I'm sure you'll take the dive regardless

I appreciate all the replies, so without the money aspect, everybody agrees that the 6 spd is the way to go. Even when keeping it for a longtime?

i test drove both before purchasing my 6mt 3.5 and the 6mt feels much more sports car like. and, it's faster! if you like having more control the 6mt is a must, expecially if you're planning on future mods for power gains.

that's what im thinking too. You probably gonna lose roughly 3-5k if you trade your cvt for manual. I was about to trade my 07 altima for a 05 350Z w/ 6k miles, but I figured I would lose at least $3000 - $5000 on my altima. So Im just going to drive this car until i save enough to get a better sport car. If money is not an issue for you, then go for it. just my .02 cent

Shift Coupe is your Altima coupe your everyday driver, or do you drive something else.

i will never get tired of driving a standard transmission. clutching and choosing shift points makes all the fun when it comes to driving for me personally.

The biggest things to take into consideration is how much money you will lose on the trade and driving in traffic. If you're okay with both, go for it.

lol btw. Did you upload those artisan exhaust pics/vids? I searched but couldn't find the thread.

Daily driver and I NEVER get tired of shifting. Shifting is magic, makes you feel soo much more in control. I can't imaging myself not shifting and just sitting there doing nothing lol

So in the end how much money do you think it would be for the swap?

Oh aight I feel you on that. I was just wondering because I remember seeing you post " I wish I had a stick," somewhere. Just wanted to know what stopped you from getting it, Thanks.

Well, traffic mostly. Also the fact that I was impatient and didn't wait for a manual to hit the lot. If I had the choice again, I would get the 6 speed
