2.5S base model Altima to a brand new Nismo 350Z...man, everyone else is suffering from the recession, you must have gotten a big promotion...not getting too much into your business, but that's a hefty leap up in the monthly payments! If you can afford to do it COMFORTABLY I saw go for it... but if you're doing it to keep up with the Jones's, or give the appearance of doing so....

Depends... How much has the car depreciated over the purchase price, and how much do you owe, if any? Also, what kind of APR are they offering (or will you purchase it straight up)?

I paid Altima with tax roughly $25K. I already paid off my altima. I told them I'll pay cash for the difference, but now I'm thinking of getting a 3 yr finance. So I don't really know what the APR is going to be.

No promotion. I always love the 350Z, especially Nismo edition. And now with 09 370z arriving and they can't get rid of 08's, I'm ready to pick one of those 08 discounted Nismos.

I don't have any debts besides $10K school loans, so I think I'll be fine with the monthly payment.

But again, I'm not sure about my decision so that why I need you guys' opinions.

If you're set on the nismo z, I'd look into maybe selling your Altima locally (I couldn't live with trade in amount unless I paid ~19-20k for the car). If you do trade it in, I'd get another quote from Carmax or another dealer, and see if they'll match it if it's higher.

I love everything about the nismo z's bodykit, minus for the obnoxious rear diffuser. The only color I think it looks decent in is black. But I digress... Anyways, good luck with whatever you decide.

I test drove the black nismo, but I already got 2 black cars in row and kind of tired of maintaining them ... first was scion tc and now my altima....

I love black nismo, but I think red shows more of the 350z lines and edges....

test drove this beauty

Thanks beeristasty. I'm pretty sure Carmax would give me a similar price or less for my altima. At first, they quoted my car for $10,900 . I know I'll lose alot of money with the trade. That is why I'm hesitant about buying the Z.

Dude, life's short! If you can afford to do it, and its what you want.... do it!!! You already paid off the Altima. You'd only have to finance 18K... on a 3 year finance plan, at a decent APR, you're looking at ~500/month.. with 5K down, financing 13.5, you're at, what, $375/month

again... don't let us determine your happiness... if you can afford it, I say go for it!

Thanks bro, you're a great help. I did a little calculation and with 60 months with 6% APR = roughly $400/month

with $5K down = roughly $300/month.

2008 350Z EnthusiastUsed4,800 Miles

Price: $21,998 Will try to negotiate for $20,000

*I will have more money to mod this car the way I want it.

What do you think?

Dude, don't get me wrong, I love my A/C... but the Z is legendary... the A/C and the G are both spinoffs of the original thing. whether taking the platform and upscaling it, or taking the design, and downscaling/blending it into the A/C... there was only one original car.. the Z.

IMo, you can't go wrong with the Z... get it dude... oh yeah, wise move on the enthusiast version vs the NISMO version. IMO, you can mod the enthusiast version EXACTLY how you want it, and not be stuck with the Nismo version, and still have money left over.... you will even have the money to turbo it (don't front, you know you want to... peer pressure dog, peer pressure)

Turbo FTMFW!

A wise decision on a regular 350 vs a Nismo. I personally hate the NISMO's styling anyways. To gaudy

I think that realistically it wouldn't be a practical decision to make. And I'm the King of making decisions like this - I'm surprised I didn't get rid of my 2005 yet for an FX or Z, but I still love it and it still feels knew.

I'd hold off, personally, regardless of the financial aspects - I'd stick with the Altima for at least another year. I know I'll get heat for my opinion lol

I understand your point...

But for me, I feel like I made a bad choice with 2.5s sedan and something in me feels missing....

I need a sport car!!! enough boy's cars and move onto man's car!

It seems like I have mix feelings

1st car - 92 talon - stick (died in 04)2nd car - 93 supra - auto (shared w/ bigger bro)3rd car- 96 camry - auto (sold due to bad transmission)4th car - 07 scion tc - stick (got bored and sold)5th car - 07 2.5s altima - auto6th car - ???

Well, prior to my Altima I drove two fast coupes. I feel fine with my 2.5 Altima though - it suffices my needs for now.

However, I'm sure I'll have a Z, G Coupe, or FX as my next vehicle. All I'm saying is it doesn't seem practical. Don't regret it.

for some reason im doubting he will regret it since his other car is already paid off . he'll owe what.... 6k? i mean, unless he is going to miss the comfort and gas mileage of his sedan. but im sure hell just rev the engine up and forget all about tht lol. as others have said. if you want it that bad and can do it, then do it. you will prolly kick yourself if you dont.

Kuhan, do you have kids? Are you married?

If the answer is no to both of those, then I say DEFINATELY GET IT!!! And I also ask what you are doing in that 2.5S Sedan in the first place... but I digress!

You have the money, you have the youth, you aren't financially hurting yourself, it's what you really want.... its a no brainer! And from the bottom of my heart, I thank you for not wanting to trade your Altima in for a car from a company that may not exist this time nest year!!! IMO, that's just retarded... but hey, again, thanks for keeping it in the family!

NOW get it and turbo that BIATCH!!

Make sure you get an insurance quote before you make your move. The Z can be expensive to insure, even more than the G which costs more to purchase.

yeah right... I'm still in training... even after you get your MD, you have to go through residency.... most folks are surprised to find out that Residents (which are MD's) only start out at ~ $40K / year... then it goes up about 1500-2000 per year after that. Its not until you get you full appointment that you make any real 6 figure money ($250K+)

My career will involve a mix of seeing patients, doing research, and consulting... hence the MD and the PhD.... for me, after 25 years of school and another 6 years of training... making anything less than $400K is unacceptable (and I know, that's not a lot of money, but its a realistic salary for someone with my training and career interests) ...now, the goal is to become such an expert in your field that you are invited to speak at various conferences and Universities around the world. When that happens, you are paid up to $30K per speaking engagement... do a dozen or so of those a year, and you've added an extra 1/4 million to 1/2 million per year in income.

It is only then that I will have the funds to buy me some real toys.. i.e. my beloved SL 65 AMG.... which IMO is pure sex on wheels! The A/C is perfect for me and what I can afford now!... but in the words of the rapper T.I.... (oh its gone happen shawty. believe that)
