Infiniti dropped VLSD after 2001 for most cars in favor of a less expensive Traction control of rear brakes.

Viscous Limited Slip Differential (a/k/a positraction)

Here's a good article on the different types of LSD

Difficult to believe that the Y34 doesn't have VLSD since it is so derivative of the FGY33.

Are the sport V35 (or whatever they are now) the only Infinitis with VLSD?

Electronics are so much cheaper than robust mechanicals!

How they have held the price in dollars for 12 years amazes me until you look at mechanicals...................in every brand.

Your question has nothing to do with a car's age and everything to do with tires, gears, engine power, surface friction, mechanical and electronic controls, etc.

Old american cars almost never had LSD, solid rear axles, low traction hard tires and were heavily front weight biased.
