I completely follow what you're saying, and I appreciate the input.08Coupe wrote:Well colder roads and hard compound tires is why your spinning. Id put any performance "summer only" tire with a soft compound (low treadwear) on and you will see a big difference. Just get some snows for this time of year....
I'm not sure, but I think his tires are 285mm or 305mm across (11in rim), so there is a LOT of rubber on the road. And, $250 for a tire is expensive to me, lol, but according to 1010 Tires, the 285/30-20 tire is like $320.rwuarch2007 wrote:And Mr. Music, any idea what width your bro went with? I'm obviously N/A so I don't have the same power output, I'm just curious. And they're only $150-$250 per tire. Is that expensive?
The only way what you will get less wheel spin is with some nice tires, but if you want to solve the problem for good. lift the rear and drop the front (if it is fwd) this should solve your problem. but your car may look like a neon.rwuarch2007 wrote:My name is Greg and I have a problem. I put my foot to the floor too much. Does that mean I should have to be punished by losing traction? I think not.
Any suggestions on a tire upgrade (if possible) to help alleviate some of the traction problems I have on the road. I can launch relatively well, but up around 5-6K RPM (1st gear) when the VVT has kicked in my wheels break loose again. WHAT?! WHY?! I mean I know why, the VQ is an awesome motor, but honestly it's annoying. It would also be nice to get some real good 'stick' off the line.
Yes, I realize that there's only so much you can do on a state road with street tires, but I'm sure someone has some clever suggestions.
And come on coupe owners, just because I drive a Sedan doesn't mean we can't all share the love.
