So yeah.... Need some insight weather to pick up a model with traction control. Will it hold back on the car during curcuit racing, drifting and daily abuse. Dose it ever fully turn off or would the wise choice be to snag a base model with no traction control or LSD.

What model of car are we talking about?

Some cars you have several modes, some have on / off, and some you can never fully disable. But until we know what kind of car you are talking about it would be just a guess.

NO, most real race car drivers don't use is, and neither do drifters. Save for top end factory backed teams, and most sanctioning bodies are outlawing it anyways.

As far as you driving around the streets like a jack ***, yeah, you should probably leave it on.

And welcome to NICO!

Duh im an idiot. The specific car iwas talking about is the 350z. The base model trim compleatly eliminates traction control as well as the P.O.S viscous LSD. Thats the model I have my eye on.

Uhhh does it put a POS open diff in place? Cause a viscous would be pretty damn nice compaired to nothing.

Drifting with traction control on...

If you can turn if fully off no real downside (other then price I would imagine)

How much you like it will probably depend on your level of driving skill and how hard you intend to push the car. If you're comfortable with car control, then you will probably find yourself fighting it when it engages and want to turn it off. If you're inexperienced you'll appreciate it being on.

They are talking about a viscous limited slip, not traction control

an aftermarket traction control system would be nice though, like the racelogic system. you can adjust how much slip you want and it comes with launch control, i am thinking about getting it when i have everything else i want done to my car.

The infamous Viscous LSD is not the LSD of choice. Its like not having one at all. The car takes some doin to get a 360 in motion.

The shirt makes perfect sense. Its saying that traction control is all in a persons foot. As for the on/off botton with models that have it, turning it off from what I have heard from D1 drifters doesnt totally disable it and infact the only way to truely disable the pos is to disconnect the traction control wireing harness in the engine bay which takes about two seconds, but also disables the abs which for some poeple could be a problem when they panic and lock up the breaks. As for the LSD the viscus imo sucks, when i had it in my 240 i never knew when the sob would work and wouldnt. I would go with a base and do what I did buy a 2 way from tomei at least then you know your lsd will be working when your on and off the throttle. Makes the Z car drift and otherwise uselessly leave lots of rubber on the pavement and not on the tire. Plus it may actually be cheaper. I got my tomei 2 way for 860 and installed for another 200. Seems like a lot better deal to me then spending an extra three grand or so to get the next model z for a pos vlsd.

Did you seriously use a VLSD designed at some point in the 80's and built some time in the early 90's...then abused for years before you even got your hands on it to a brand new one in a Z?Thats like getting a burned out clutch diff and saying that 2 ways suck.

A brand new VLSD WILL be better then an open diff.

I was just suggesting that it may be cheaper to by a base Z with an open diff and replace it with the diff ones own choosing.

Dont know how I could have had an abused vlsd in my 240 when the 240 I owned with it I bought from the orginal owner (50 year old man) having only 40k on the odometer. I am just saying to me its too unpredictable doesnt do what I feel a lsd should when it should. But then again I could have just been spoiled with some of the stuff I have been privilaged enough to drive.

Thats funny, i got the shirt the whole time.... I'm bout to make a shirt like that.. any buyers?.... Look up LSD's before you buy one, if you go that route. Now dude is happy with the tomei, but you might find one different that you like better or just want to try out. There is one called a Carbon Diff, but i don't remember where i saw it or how much it was (thinking in the $1500 range). It was a couple of weeks ago i came acrossed it.... What ever you choose you will have fun in that car.
