well, the issue is, quite simple. Its deosn't work!!!

LOL

now, me and my friend (its his ride) being BIG RWD fans, love the fact that we can spin the tires and do some slick maneuvring (sp?) in a full size familty sedan. But, living in the frozen tundra known as Canada, our winters are merciless. After driving in some bad ice storms last year in my s14, with my buddy in his '01 BMW 323, I found a new respect for traction control systems. Since most you Q45 owners live in the south, i suppose you really can't relate with us eskimos in the north, but you may have some idea on how to get this feature working. Couldn't find alot of reading on the subject when i searched.

So our 2 options are

1. repairing the module for our horrid winters (with the weight and power of the Q, its hard to imagine how well it will take off in slippery conditions)

2. pull out the whole system itself (may not be practical for winter though).

How could we diagnose the system? Noticed a co2 tank or something like that on the unit, under the hood. Does this need to be filled up annually or something? We picked up the car without the unit working all together, so we don't have any ideas about how/ when it failed.

thanks again guys:help :help

The other tank you mentioned shoudl have brake fluid........ passenger side, about even with the oil filler cap.......

It is good (I have it), but not neccessary..... I think that if you got some good snow tires, youll be fine.......

1) Have the OWNER join the NICO forums (unless you told him about me and he's scared:))

2) Buy a FSM (several to be found on eBay)

3) Perform the TCS diagniostic test outlined in the FSM and post the results.

1. I keep telling my friend to sign up, but he isn't very good with cpu's. He's in the process of learning the in's and outs of the net, and ever since I told him about this site, he has been a daily lurker. I'll get him on the boards yet, he figures when he has a tough question to ask, he will sign up

2. He bought a '92 FSM from infinit already, and I asked him about the test, but he has other priorities at the moment w/the car.

3. Once the test is performed, i will post results.

One thing though, he did notice his brakes are totally shot. And traction control and the brake system go hand in hand, no? Anyway, we are trying to locate some decent rotors/ pads for a decent price, and see if a total brake job might fix the problem? Again, we are both newbs to this car, and learning as we go.

I'll metion the brake fluid, thanks El and hitman

p.s. - I told him you were fairly resourceful hitman, I didn't want to mention any stories that would scare him off (that way i don't have to type this **** for him).

LOL - I'm harmless. :D

Check ebay for rotors and make sure he buys his pads from Joe. Best bang for the buck.
