There are two things you can do to "tone it down". One is proven, the other is more my opinion (which may be VERY flawed).
The first is to run slightly larger tires in the rear. This will widen your slip band slightly.
How? The rear and front wheels have a ratio and corresponding window that must be maintained in order to "satisfy" the traction control. If you make the traction control think that the rear wheels going slower than the front wheels (by using taller tires) then you have now widened the slip window, because you have the normal window of slip (say 3%) + the amount of "negative" slip that you have introduced with the larger tires. I wouldn't exceed 2% as this might cause some issues.
Here's where my opinion comes into play. After installing a grounding kit on my G, it seems like the VDC kicks in a little later and drops off a little sooner. So I can actually slip the rear a little without getting the SLIP and cut throttle.
Again, this is completely based on my impression. I may be totally off kilter here.
