Just returned from some great track days at VIR with the folks from Audi. I had it rough, 80s and sunny the first day, just 70 and cloudy on the second. Very friendly crowd, I had a great student in an Audi Allroad, air suspension and all. Fast and fun. I also caught a ride in a caged 300ZX TT. It was modded and was putting out a tad over 400hp at the wheels. Great ride. As always a wide variety of interesting cars there.

Here are the pics….

the 300ZX TT..Original owner, converted into a track car...really nice...

Pontiac G8 and an Altima SE-R...

Something you don't see often, a corvette used as a tow vehicle. Owner is an army colonel, great guy.

Image

Not one but two Cadillac CTS-V's. Both sounded great and were quick.

There were 3 Toyota MR-2's there. Two were 92 turbo's, and the other was a 1st gen 24 hr of Lemons racer.

having some computer problems, will be adding more shortly

I suggested this to Greg for our C5. He looked at me like I was some hillbilly from TN. :gotme

one of the Moroso brothers was there driving a nice modded C5 Vette sporting experimental vehicle license plates. I really liked his tow rig...

My friend Ford V8 powered Mercedes 190 (straight pipes) parked beside my GMC flatbed..His next project is a 944 with a small block Chevy V8.

Nice old Audi

my friend's C5 Vette. He bought it new and converted it into a full time track toy. Beautiful roll cage...

In my students car entering the pits. I'm in the passenger seat. Shot taken by one of his friends at one of the garage/rooms at Hog Pen.
the allroad was a very entertaining car. Has an air suspension. It was on it's lowest setting but still felt like it floated. It leaned a lot, and the all-season radials screamed for mercy but it was fun. My student was a very good driver.

one of many R8's

A4 Racecar. It had some recent body work done, and Criswell (major sponsor of the club) gave the owner a great deal on the work + paint in exchange for a little advertising... :chuckle: In the background was a Mini Clubman, that did indeed run on the track.

Image

Old Childress stock car that I see regularly. I got to spend some time with the owner. I was amazed how inexpensive it was for him to acquire and maintain. Big power, great handling, very reliable. He buys used tires from a local NASCAR team for very little.

Looks like a Renegade. Those things are awesome.

That would look really nice with a dry carbon spoiler and front lip.

nice. I know a guy that races a Zenki that races down there regularly. If you see a blue 240 with a giant aluminum wing, SR'd and possibly GTR wheels... stay away, he's a cocky d!ck

It's got a 289 Ford V8, stripped and suped up, straight pipes, big brakes, runs R comps. very fast, very loud. He did all the work himself several years ago. I'll have to ask him the next time I see him what kinda power it puts out.

Meh, same concept.

That Z32 is clean. I like it.

Also, "Experimental vehicle license plates"?

What does that even mean?

Implies it was a prototype for a performance product they were working on, evidently a long term road test. I didn't get a chance to speak with him or his crew.

That E30 looked far too gorgeous to be a track only car... unless your camera was just being nice to it ;)

The paint was fairly new, but overall it was in very nice shape.
