And it was more fun than last time! 64 and not a cloud in the sky. The only sad part was that I had borrowed a set of racing slicks mounted to some old school Z wheels, but they didn't clear my front calipers, so I had to put the street tires back on and deal with way too much understeer. Still, in the street mod class, I scored 5 seconds lower than the quickest car (47 vs 42 seconds). The course was tight and set up for either oversteer or neutral balance, and i had neither thanks to street tires on the front :(

Looks like that Evo's picking up a hitch hiker!

Built C4 Vette that was running 12.5 wide khumos. He said he was running low 12's and was forcing himself to go slow so the track officials wouldn't kick him off the strip for not having a cage.

EDIT: This S14 DID compete. He was in my class. That's why I didn't see him

The 350 didn't compete, but the S13 did, and he was ripping the track up. He probably posted one of the best times there and he's box stock.

The M3 was a great performer.

This triumph (yes that's primer grey) was getting lots of cheers from the crowd. He'd get off course, and then pull a quick 180 to go back to the gate he missed, swing around again and peel out.

more pics!

You'll see shots like this a lot. This section was a pivot point at the end of a short slalom section. It pivoted and then doubled back down the slalom. The gates were set up weird, and it was almost impossible to take it fast without catching the gate cone.

The STi tore the track up.

here's what using street tires on the front of your car will do to you if use slicks on the rears. Understeer!

I do not look good open face helmets.

Sorry for the graininess in these pics, but they were scanned from my friend's filim shots he took of the meet.

We had a good time at the meet. everyone was talkative and nice and not many ricers showed up either.

if you wanna see a quicktime vid of your favorite SR'd convertible running the course. damned 180 owned me every time though. next time, i'm bringing a camera crew to tape all of my runs.
