This is pretty basic for a question, but it seems it hasn't been asked before:

I never had a TPS wired into my wiring harness when I had my swap harness converted from KA24 to RB25, I have the plug that should have been used in the harness for my TPS, but no wires whatsoever to lead to the TPS.

HOWEVER!!!!

I do have wires at the ECU (pin 38 and 48, for sensor) for a TPS, so I am wondering if I can run the TPS signals and ground wire (grounding it at the chassis) and have a functioning TPS?

It seems kind of silly to not have a TPS, even though the engine has ran significantly better than expected without one.

Which plug are you referring to?

There is a plug that goes directly onto the TPS, and another plug thats on a 1 inch or so long sub harness thats an oval shaped connector. The oval shaped one is the only one i have on my RB that goes to anything.

the purple plug that goes into the black box on the side of the throttle body is the plug that I am referring to.

I also have the plug on the sub harness that seems to go under the TB installed and wired properly

The plug directly onto the TB is the one that I am curious about: mostly for timing, etc. I know on the SR's you can adjust the TPS for some adjustments to the timing - but this is me thinking wildly and not really reading up on stuff

I used to have the same thing on the RB25 S1. It had a grey plug on the throttle body with no wires coming out the back side of it. I thought something was wrong, but it still drove perfectly. I want to say it has something to do with the auto transmission option??

my guess is for auto transmission or for cruise control - something that I have neither of. The car runs good when Im not frying MAFs or blowing off exhaust gaskets, so I'm not going to worry about it further.
