TPS wiring..........1990 K24E

1990 240sx SOHC

The TPS has 3 wires running to it..........

But what is that wire on the outside coming up to the plug? It looks like it may be a ground wire. Should I ground it?

I found out the silver wire is a shield and doesnt need to be connected
