Im going to check the volts on my TPS today,And i just got a electrical tester at autozone. And im not sure it it will work,I know i need to have the TPS at 0.45.And on my tester it say it reads DC voltage 0-2.5-50-250-1000 and AC 0-10-50-250-1000 volts. So do i put the noob on the tester on DC or AC?Thanks,

Ok,Just check it and when closed it read 0.45 volts and when open it read 8.3 volts.Does that sound about right?

Its telling the ECUthe wrong throttle voltage which would cause it to bog and generally not run so well.

If your engine runs just fine then chances are you arent using the voltmeter right. If you feel like the engine is running bad, lack of power, bogging, etc, then get out a pen and pad and adjust the TPS, writing down the adjustments. Take it for brief test drives and see if it feels better or worse until you find a setting you like.

Ok,so if i turn down the voltage at open throttle will it mess up the setting at closed.Cause 0.45 is where it sould be at.

Ok,At closed throttle it reads 0.45V and at open throttle it reads 4.0V.Looks perfect to me.The car runs so much better now. Also set the idel at 850rpm,And set the timing at 16BTDC.

one more thing,Is it normal for my car to backfire almost every time i go from 1st to 2nd gear?

Depends on a lot of factors:How big/loud of a backfire?Exhaust, full, cat?etc

I have baby backfires about 60% of the time in the lower gears, not a big deal. Have had them for years.

I got a Greddy turbo elbow,XS engineering down pipe, and a RS*R Exmag catback,So no cat.Its not to loud,It sounds like a pop sound,It only does it when i rev it to around 3000 or 3500 in 1st and shift into 2nd.
