i was trying to set my idle at what it is suppsed to be but i cant. i unpluged the tps and adjusted the idler screw all the way clockwise till it stoped and the rpm only went down to 2000. anyone know why that would do that. do i need to plug the tps back in or something while adjusting it?

i have already done that. cleaned the carbon out of the entire system with a can of seafoam. i can look inside the intake and see that it is clean and now the throttle is not stuck at all. i have checked that and it operates fine. i disconnected the TPS and started the car and the idle would stay at 2000 and drop to 1800 and go up and down and up and down repeatedly really fast. idk what the hell is causeing this and its pissing me off. i has something to do with electrics or vacume idk. i think i will just take it to a mech. and pay the damn 65 dollar diognistic charge. i hate that crap.

I had a similar situation about 3 weeks ago, idle would jump up and down really fast, and eventually stall. Have a helper start it up, and once it starts put some pressure on or wiggle the airflow meter connector. Once I did that my idle instantly stabilized and was smooth as silk, until I took pressure off the connector, then it would go crazy again. I pulled the connector off (there is a retaining clip), bent the male contacts (on the airflow meter) about a millimeter in opposite directions, then used needlenose pliers to slightly crimp the female connectors (in the plug). Gently reinstall it (be carefull not to bend the contacts worse when you are putting it back on) and start it up. I did this and its been perfect ever since.
