TPS Sensor

Hey i just got the TPS sensor for my stupid car that didn't want to pass smog! Anyone know of anything special I have to do before installing it myself?

Who convinced you that you needed a sensor for a sensor so to pass smog?

A TPS is a Throttle Position Sensor....so what's a throttle position sensor sensor??? I have no idea where one of those would install.

Try running a can of Seafoam.

Often cars will have to relearn with the new sensor, so disconnect the battery for 24 hours to reset the computer. Drive it around when you're done, working the throttle back and forth from idle.

Good question though...why did you buy a new one?

The TPS is simply a variable resistor. Almost identical in function on most cars, fairly easy to troubleshoot with a DVOM.

cuz every smog place i took it to told me it needed to be replaced to pass smog.

It actually needs to be re-set either manually or by a Consult.

they did that whole reset and drive it around for an hour, didnt work.

Every place i took it to wanted to do that crap!

Anyways i already bought it, 205$ for a stupid piece of plastic that couldnt have cost nissan more than 8 bucks to make
