As hard as it's been to find a TPS replacement part, I'm now being told I have to purchase the whole throttle body. Is this true?

Okay...I'm lost. TPS, isn't that Tire Pressure System? I assume you're talking about a part on the throttle body. Did you try and clean it? You can't touch the butterfly valve, as the motor is very sensitive and will be damaged if you force it open/shut.

You can try used parts. http://www.car-part.com/

No. TPS- throttle position sensor. Yes you can clean it, but that doesnt make the sensor magically start working and I can't seem to find just a replacement sensor. You have to replace the whole throttle body.

And tire pressure sensor is TPMS- tire pressure monitoring system :)
