Ive been having an oddball miss with my car. Ive checked all the spark, fuel, and timing related stuff. Now im onto electronics. I just installed an AVCR and its showing my throttle percent flucuating at 3.0-4.0% at idle. TPS is set to .45 Volts. Im guessing the TPS is bad but i wanna check with you guys to make sure. Also when checking the voltage, it is very irratic going from .38 to .52 volts. And when my electric fans kick on the voltage drops. This makes me think its an electrical issue. Everything is grounded properly to the engine and to the firewall. Would a bad alternator or battery cause this?

Anyone? When setting the TPS should i have the key on with the engine off or with the engine on? Should i do it with or without the electric fans running?

it's probably your alternator struggling to keep up the charge with your accessories (e-fan mostly) drawing so many amps. try idling your car with a battery charger connected and see if things stabilize. if so, might be time to rebuild your alt or do the quest one

I'll try that. I was messing around with the tps today and found to get it to read a full 100% throttle I have to set the tps at .70 volts. That's with the key on and the engine off. When I turn the engine on the voltage drops down to .57 volts. And when the fans kick on the voltage drops down to .35 volts. Something is definitly messed up in this area.

I checked the alternator. Putting out 14 volts. So that's not the problem. I'll try another tps and see what happens.
