I just had my 97 Q45 smog tested and three codes popped up: P0120 TPS Sensor A CKT Malfunction; P0330 Knock Sensor 2 CKT Malfunction; and P1705 Manufacturer specific code. However, I have not noticed any significant change in my car's performance.

Is there something I can do myself before I take it in to have it looked at, or it could it be a simple fix (such as cleaning a dirty sensor)? Thanks!

Likely not the K/S need to be replaced, not sure on the other codes, but to answer your question-you'll have to pay somebody to fix this.

what?! Pay somebody to fix sensors?!

an O2 sensor is something I would pay a kid working at a auto place to repair only because some of them are near impossible to do. The KS I would not trust to any Joe Blow, doing it yourself allows you to clean your engine pretty well, and can save you well over 1k depending on whats going on

The dead KS has probably been that way for a while, you will know the difference once they are replaced (my need to do both, plus the harnesses) and you will FEEL the difference in performance

You just need to acquire the knowledge, confidence, time, and parts to get it done. If you do go to a mechanic it should at the least be an infiniti mechanic. Either way KS replacement is a huge amount of time, and thats very expensive

Thanks for the feedback. The dillema I have is that we will be selling this car this month and was hoping to avoid spending a lot of money. Thanks again.

not much of way around it now unless you want to sell the car for parts. You must have a smog check to transfer ownership, and you will not pass with KS code.
