Hello,

Can I have the tire shop take the TPMS off my 18" rims (2011 SL package) and place them on 17" rims (from a 2010 Rogue) with winter tires? If so, I assume the TPMS would not have to be "reset" by the dealer? If not, any good places to buy a second TPMS set and gernal pricing for such?

Thanks!

Well, yes. But why bother? The winter tires won't be on the vehicle that long, so it's kinda pointless. The vehicle will operate just fine without the sensors present.

that would mean:

take off the from the 18"
remove tpms
reinstall tires on 18" rims

take off tires from 17" rim
install tpms
reinstall tire on 17" rim
install rims/tires onto car.

you would be paying a ton for labor when its 100% unneeded. drive without tpms like 90% of the rest of us do during winter. :)

For some reason I thought that they could remove the TPMS from the wheel without taking the tire off. Guess not. Seems like most people just overlook the light for 3 months...... Thanks again.

In Ottawa I am driving with winter tires from November to mid April, so roughly half of the year I am on winter tires, with TPMS light turned on.

I hate those sensors. If I can, I would just remove the bulb from the instrument panel.

My tires have no sensor and I am living with that light.

On the other hand, each time you remove and install the TPMS, you have to replace the O-ring as well.

there's always a risk of breaking TPMS when you remove it, because sometimes the nut holding the sensor have some corrosion. You dont need TPMS to run your car and they dont interface with any other system and which this is the dumbest technology that they invented
