Wondering if anyone has had a problem like this...Had new tires replaced about 12K miles ago at Discount Tire. Same size as the OEM, just different brand.

The TPMS all was good until about a week ago. then the light blinks 30-40 times and now stays on. So I brought the car to the dealer for a reset (had a month left of warranty and have never had it in for warranty work before), but the dealer tells me they can't reset it because the OEM TPMS is not OEM and the sensors don't even register when they check it. I am thinking they didn't want to pull off tires and check for broken sensors.

Dealer had 2 options for me: use a piece of black tape (not kidding - Infiniti/Kirkland, WA) or pay $600 for new sensors and labor.

I have not seen anywhere that TPMS has to be OEM to work...and why would it work for over a year, then fail?

Discount is blowing me off too...

Frustrated.

i wouldn't be amazed if discount tire broke your tpms in their process of mounting your new tires.

Batteries eventually go out. I have one in my '07 sedan that needs replacing. I don't have any sensors in my wheels so I just deal with the light for now.

Thanks. I guess it is the batteries. Surprised dealer didn't stand behind the warranty. 37000 miles seems like a pretty short battery life. Is what it is....thanks for the responses

Are they stating it's a "use" item? Some do that, some don't. You can find them much cheaper on ebay than buying a new one from the dealer. You just need to determine which one needs replacement.
