TPMS vs window tint

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

My window tint installer says they have to use a special film on cars with TPMS since the metallic film may block the signal. Never heard of this. Anyone else with this experience? Got a price of $220 for 35% all around except windshield. Is this a good price?

thats a good price but in every tint place there are usually 3-4 different types of tint and the cheaper one is the one without the metallic thing in it. i also heard it can affect GPS bit im not sure about TPMS

There are primarily 3 types of tint:Regular - Which is the cheapest and original typeMetallic - Which is much better but bad for electronics in the carCERAMIC - Which is almost as good as metallic, but without any of the headaches

I have Ceramic on my EX.

I was told the same by by my regular tint shop about metallic and electronics. I too chose the ceramic tint. It also has better heat reflecting properties than the standard tint. It costs a little bit more, but probably worth it. The darkest "legal" I could get was 37%. Not sure if it comes darker.
