My 2006 350Z only has 28K on the odometer and is still sporting the original tires. Yes, the front tires are feathered and are noisy but still have plenty of tread left.

At 8 years of age, it's getting to the time for replacing the TPMS sensors. I have on rear tire that doesn't successfully report occasionally.

I expect to replace the front tires this year and expect to replace the sensors when I do. Has anyone successfully used 3rd party sensors available an Amazon, etc? And was a local tire some capable of reprogramming the system?

My OE TPMS will need replacing this fall/winter too, I've got a couple that the colder it gets the quicker they quit. My summer wheels have new Nissan sensors I picked up on the cheap from someone selling their wheels. You might want to check the classifieds section here. I'm not sure about 3rd party sensors but given the significant price difference I may need to do some research!

As far as reprogramming the sensors my local Firestone Complete Auto Care (formerly Expert Tire) does it for me at no charge. I've got a lifetime alignment with them and when I switch the tires over I have them take care of the sensors. I've heard of dealerships charging anywhere from nothing all the way up to $50 a wheel to do it.
