So I'm out running some errands today (and getting my Altima washed) and this weird looking light comes on the dash cluster. I stop at the nearest gas station and get out the manual to check it out. It's TPMS! At this point I'm doubting the system thinking the car wash must have screwed it up..btw I have less than 600 miles on my ride. I run over to Target to get a tire gauge. My right rear tire is low. And after some inspection, I find a screw lodged in my tire!

Luckly it's in the tread, so I hope it can be patched and repaired. The dealership auto shop closed at 7 pm and the local tire shops were closing. So I'm going to wait until tomorrow morning. I put some more air in it, so it should last.

If it wasn't for TPMS, I would wake up to a really flat tire in the morning or worst yet, it's friday night. Tonight could have turned out to be a big bummer, stuck on the side of the freeway waiting for a tow truck.

Thanks Nissan!

Edit: I have an 08 Altima 2.5 SL

Screws and nails suck, big time! Why didn't you just buy a patch kit when you were at Target? It's relatively easy, you just need a little elbow grease to patch it up. By the way, shame on you for not having a tire pressure gauge in your car already!!

I always carry a tire gauge in all of my cars and I do agree that nails and screws suck big time! I just bought my tires form Discount Tires direct and also bought that protection plan. Hopefully I will never have to use it!

I honestly believe that EVERY car should have a tire gauge, first-aid kit, at least 2 flares, bottled water, and MOST IMPORTANTLY, a good flashlight. Yeah, I'm a flashaholic! Ever since the academy, I've been intrigued with flashlights, and even moreso with my career now, I can never overemphasize the importance of one; I actually carry two on my person. Now where's my Surefire M6?

I called the dealership and explained the problem and the guy said he wouldn't be able to help me until monday??? They were completely booked. I bought this car 8 days ago... Thanks Nissan for the help.

I just went down to America's Tire Co and they patched the tire for free. They were very busy and had me in and out within 45 minutes. They even vaccumed my already clean car. Amazing. I know where I'm getting new tires

I have the Nissan emergency pack and first aid kit. I guess there is some useful stuff in there. I had a tire pressure gauge in my other car, but it somehow it didn't make it into the new one. I have a small super bright white LED flashlight. Got it off the snapon truck.

Flashlights.... i love my flashlights LOL

Tire pressure gauge? Why? My car came with 4 of them, one for each tire!! LOL

Yeah i'm a bit unprepaired in the case of an emergency. I'm kinda like one of those james bond style mechanics, i can always make something work LOL

Generic, I'm with you on the necessity of a good light or 3! In my car I keep a Surefire Executive E2E. At work, along withmy SL20, and the Surefire X200a on my duty gun, I keep a Blackhawk Gladius on my belt. I've never gone for the super-bright stuff out there, but I do like a good quality light!

Yeah, it's a tactical strike bezel which is pretty darn sharp. You know how much clothes I've ruined by accidently snagging it with my light But this has served me well for many years and sleeps next to me and my Glock on my nightstand.

Alright guys, this is about TPMS thread not about guns or flashlights I think TPMS is a cool safety feature, but how many years have we been driving without it. Nothing beat a digital or analog tire pressure. Rule of thumb, have 1 digital or analog tire pressure in your car and do a weekly or at least monthly check up for tire pressure.

Yeah, that Magpul has been the talk of the industry. Unfortunately, or maybe fortunately, it will not be made. It was just a show piece. Cool though, huh?
