I know this has been hashed over for ever but I am pressed for time or I would spend the time and try and search for an answer.

My 07 Versa has had no problems so far in 22K.

I do dealer trades for a Nissan dealer and was driving a new Versa home to take to the Dallas area tomorrow and the TPMS light came on. It was raining cats and dogs and I have to go to a dry spot. The tire pressures were all at 32PSI.

Would water possibly have any effect on a sensor as it was ponding in spots and I know they got soaked? I would assume they are highly water resistant. Are do they just crap out for no reason other than bad design.

This car only had about 15 miles on it when the light came on.

I aired all the tires up to 34PSI and will check them at 3:30AM when I leave in the morning.

Would just appreciate any input on the question about the moisture.

I spent some of my valuable time looking since I am home sick today, and the moisture issue is not part of any discussions I could find in my few minutes of using the search feature. My recommendation is to drive at a constant speed in the morning and let it reset itself after checking the pressure/adjusting all the way around.

The sensors in some vehicles were 'broken' and should be replaced UNDER warranty by your Nissan dealer.

Dito on what's been said above. If the TPMS light flashes for a minute and then goes on steady it's a malfunction with the system. tPMS system and or the ECU may need to be replaced. If the light just comes on steady then it thinks that one or more of the tires is low - and if you check it then you'll be fine.

The system should read and reset the reading once you travel about 20 mph I think, maybe a bit faster.

As long as you check the pressure you should be fine though.

I live in the Seattle area, so have plenty of experience driving through puddles. While I've had three TPMS failures, none have seemed to be tied to moisture. At least two of the three happened in dry weather.

Thanks for the replies.

Went to bed at 7:30PM last night so just got to read them. Got up at 3AM and the pressures were fine.

Stuck a piece of black tape over the blasted light and made the trip to north of Dallas.

Had over a three hour wait after I got there as they had loaned the car out I was suppose to bring back. The the lady wrecked it on the way back to the dealership. I ended up bring a different color back.

Not trying to piss anybody off but was glad to get back in my Versa when I got back. The coupe is not only tight for space but rides real rough. Did get great gas milage. Driving mostly 70-75 got 32.4MPG over the 290 miles. It was a 2.5.

Thanks again for the replies.
