I did alot of searching I am a little unlcear about something. For the most part everyone who pu aftermarket wheels & tires didnt add the TPMS and just has the light on their dash all the time. Is there any one that did go ahead and buy from nissan another set or use the original ones off the tires that has aftermarket rims without the light on?

thanks for the help

I transfered my old TPMS into my aftermarket wheels and the light doesn't go on. It is required by the law to put TPMS on new vehicles that are equipped with them.

Both. I believe its the gasket that goes over the valve stem.

I am not sure, you would need to call them.

I purchased my rims from that same company and I have been trying to have my tpms sensors moved over to my rims. When I spoke to discount tires they told me to just have them moved over from my old wheels and installed on my new wheels and it would not have to be re-balanced. When I spoke to the shop here about doing the work they told me it has to be re-balanced and they may not fit. (he wants 150 bucks...........my a**)

It WILL need to be rebalanced... and the tire unmounted to get it in there... unless you have 3pc $4000 wheels, odds are it will fit... Ofcourse you have to balance the wheels man... you are putting a hunk of metal on one side!

TPMS works on RF. When I put my aftermarket wheels on, I'm gonna live with the warning light, like generic and of bunch of guys out there are doing. Of course you can get another set of TPMS sensors and have them mounted but you'll still need to have the car re-learn the new freq

My question is, can you find out what the freq is on the original TPMS sensors and carry that over to the new sensors. That way you you don't need to bring the car back to the dealership and pay them to have your car re-learn the new code. You can just swap out the wheels and go!

I know that there are a couple of master mechanics out there that can chime in and shed some light on this subject.

I called the nissan dealer and here is what they told me... First to mount and balance tires its 150. I dont have a problem with that because chances are i am buying my rims and tires from 2 different places and i want the sensors installed so its not too bad. Second it cost 50 bucks to "setup" or calibrate the 4 TPMS sensors and the tire needs to be filled 33 psi and it should key word should work. His main concern was the TPMS fitting on the rim but i am keeping my fingers crossed on that but the ones i want in the decription state they are TPMS friendly.... I am hoping so.

My car came with steel rims and wheel covers so I bought some alloys from Discount Tire. I had the OEM tires mounted on the new wheels and the TPMS removed from the steel wheels and put on my new wheels. Every thing worked fine. I also purchased winter tires and had those mounted on my original steel wheels with out TPMS. I am running my winter tires now and just cover the dash indicator w/ black electrical tape. When I put my summer wheels tires back on in a couple of months, the TPMS indicator will go off and every thing will be back to normal. There was no need to reprogram the computer or any thing.Just be sure to buy a good tire gauge and use it often if you don't use the TPMS.MOST people got along just fine before TPMS and can still get buy. They had to do something to protect idiots from them selves because they don't know how or refuse to check their tire pressure.
